Cam lock

Cam locks are simple locking cylinders that are used millions of times worldwide for a wide variety of purposes. Cam locks are used, for example, in letterboxes, window fittings, cash boxes or lockers.

Cam locks consist of a housing with a locking cylinder with a locking bolt attached to it, colloquially known as a "lever".  By turning the key to the open and closed position, the locking bolt is moved by 90° or 180°. Cam locks are made of zamak (zinc die casting / die casting) and usually have plate tumblers (disc tumblers).

The cam lock is fixed with screws with hexagonal nuts or with a clamping spring. Due to the different lengths of the housing and the locking bolt or its shape (straight or curved), a wide variety of installation solutions can be realised.
