Electronic lock

Electronic locks are colloquially referred to as locking systems in which locking and unlocking takes place electrically. Electronic locking systems can be operated with a battery as well as with an external power source. The role of the key is played by a code or a transponder medium. The advantage is that electronic locking systems allow a flexibility that is more difficult and expensive to realise with mechanical locking systems, e.g. if the lock is to be used by a wide variety of people. With a code lock, for example, individual codes can be assigned to the users.
