The busy code is written to a transponder medium when a locker is successfully locked. The busy code prevents the user from locking other lockers with the same medium. As a result, the busy indicator cannot be used with read-only locking systems. On the one hand, the busy code can be removed by successfully unlocking the locked locking system, on the other hand, the lock can be removed by a corresponding release device (transponder release device).  Unlocking devices are often used at gyms where counter staff remove the busy indicator on the media of gym-goers who accidentally relock their locker when leaving the locker room.
